RICHARD CLARKE MCSP
Richard graduated from Northumbria University in 2002 and worked for several years in the NHS in the North East before leaving to work and travel in Australia. On his return to the UK, Richard worked in several clinics in and around the Manchester area, specialising in Occupational Health and Sports Physiotherapy before joining Kendal Physiotherapy Centre back in 2010.
Richard decided to go back to university to study for his Master’s degree at Keele University whilst also working full time. The subject of his dissertation was research into shoulder injuries in rock climbers.
Richard also has a specialist interest in assessing and retraining runners and has developed our RunFit Service. This service provides runners with a treadmill based biomechanical assessment, a functional movement screen and drills and exercises to improve running performance and reduce injury risk.
Richard treats patients with a combination of manual therapy, muscle imbalance retraining, Clinical Pilates, exercise therapy and acupuncture. Richard also specialises in shoulder injuries, cycling related injuries, whiplash associated disorders and persistent back and neck pain. Richard is also a member of the acupuncture association of chartered physiotherapists (AACP).
Richard took over as owner of Kendal Physiotherapy Centre in April 2018 after working in the practice for nearly 8 years. He now juggles trying to run a business, treat patients 3 days a week and trying to spend as much time with his young family Isaac (who is nearly 6) and Isabelle (2.5 yrs old).
